Barb wire barbie
When beauty is pain
The tender corrosion of her brittle bones
Strikes her down with every step.
Her raggedy knees give out
And everybody knows she is sick.
She wears a mini skirt to address the accusations
And knee high socks
To mask the brown and purple puddles on her skin.
Rubies are littered on the bathroom floor
And diamonds glisten on her bedsheets,
But money can’t un rot her from the inside out,
It can’t dilute the vomit raining from her brain,
Nor the appetite that has withered itself away.
Money can’t buy back a troubled youth
Without a sucker punch to the throat.
Some girls just want to choke on their own presence,
And be so perceived by strangers
That they are practically alien.
Some just want to digest attention
As if it was what kept them alive.
She would take any wound just to know
That she is pretty.
She is,
But she wants to know it.
Beauty is pain,
Undeniable,
And any doll could say that she’ll endure it for results,
But it’s only a barb wire barbie
Who will gut herself just to feel clean.

this is so beautiful
I can almost hear sad music in the background. There’s such a melancholic tone stuck to every line
